Prosecutors who intentionally withhold or falsify evidence could be charged with a felony under a new bill winding through the state Legislature.
The proposal by Assemblywoman Patty Lopez, D-San Fernando, comes as prosecutors in Orange County face accusations that they’ve routinely misused jailhouse informants and withheld information from defense attorneys. Full Article
They need to go after Riverside county, this kind of activity forced me into a plea for something I didn’t do.
I this crime by public safety officers and public officers of the courts need to have the equal punishment of the crimes that are in question, plus 10 years and they need to be place a public registry, for life, renewable every 3 months.
When a judge or attorney can restrict evidence that would help a persons defense, they’ve not delivered justice. The system as a whole is messed up, from the jurors to the judge. If I’m correct, the US has a 93% conviction rate. We’ve become exceedingly efficient at locking people up for circumstantial “evidence”. I hear North Korea is worried we’re going to take their 96% conviction record rate.
California legislators need to affirmly act & put forth this proposal deterrent . The feds are on their *%∆ and rightfully so.
Withholding evidence, cheating, manipulate evidence, falsify evidence, remove, alter evidence are what’s wrong with orange county style of justice.
State legislature must act now.

This is a good start if it really has any teeth. Likely, it will end up being a slap on the wrist. I propose adding them to a public registry as a “penalty” for their actions. Orange and Riverside counties are not alone, Santa Clara county is as corrupt as it gets. Here’s a direct quote to my attorney (who did nothing)
“prosecutors lie, so what?” How about “losing” files, erasing parts of conversations, deleting anything that is in your favor. This behavior, I believe, is rampant throughout this state.
Again, state legislators please take note. The epicenter of underhanded cheating people to their fundamental rights to fair open trial is orange county.
As well as other counties in the state , there is a great need for this law deterrent for court officials who cross the line …’win at all costs’.
In this case , a record has been altered; edited; rewrite; changed; doctored; fixed.
Legislators , I know for fact oc court personnel can alter edit ; fix & doctor up a court record for their win at all costs.

This has to be one of the best bills ever created by the assembly!
It is about time these individuals, are held RESPONSIBLE for withholding evidence and the like.
I can only begin to imagine the amount of people convicted of crimes, simply because these people
don’t play fair. The passage of this bill will hopefully prevent future citizens from being wrongfully convicted on all levels.
